The main objective of the Best Practice and Local Leadership Office in Barcelona is to support local government in achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

Key activities of the Barcelona Office are:
* To promote capacity building for local and regional authorities
* To identify and assess best practices, public policies and enabling legislation
* To facilitate exchange of technical expertise and best practices.

The office is situated within the International Relations Department of the Barcelona Province and it is supported by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
