Call for Nominations - Deadline: 25 February 2010

The Rafik Hariri UN-Habitat Memorial Award is a joint initiative of the Rafik Hariri Foundation and UN-Habitat that seeks to reward individuals and organisations who have followed and built upon the exemplary achievements of the late Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. For his creativity, visionary leadership and statesmanship in the reconstruction of Lebanon and the City of Beirut, Mr. Hariri was awarded the Habitat Award Scroll of Honour, the highest possible award in the UN system in human settlements development.

UN-Habitat recognises the need to plan, manage, and finance initiatives geared towards secure tenure, shelter, and community development such as those espoused by Mr Hariri. In light of this, UN-Habitat has come together with the Rafik Hariri Foundation to recognise and reward individuals and organisations that are continuing in the spirit of the late Mr Hariri, through the UN-Habitat Rafik Hariri Memorial Award.
